Geneseo Points of Support (GPS)

The Geneseo Points of Support (GPS) program helps students with questions about navigating college processes. Volunteer GPS Guides are employees located all over campus staff members who work to break down barriers that prevent students from accessing resources.

GPS guides are visible, present, and friendly and they are knowledgeable about campus services and always willing to learn more.  If you have a questions about where to go or how to do something, look for a GPS Guide!

GPS Guides can help students:

  • clarify questions and articulate student needs
  • break down Geneseo-specific higher education lingo and terminology
  • identify clear next steps
  • connect students to the right offices and people for support of these steps

Reasons students seek out a GPS Guide:

We are experienced with a wide range of tops. Some example topics include:

  • Learning how to manage your time in college
  • What's the difference between the Registrar and Student Accounts and Financial Aid and and Career Design and Advising? Which one should I go to?
  • Review of a letter or communication from a professor or the college to fully understand what it says
  • Assistance in writing or reviewing a communication the student will send to a professor or office
  • Finding the successful ways to communicate with professors
  • Confused or unsure and wondering what the next steps are

and much more!

How to Connect with a GPS Guide:

1. Students - open your Navigate Student App, choose the "+" in the top right.  Select "Hand Raise" and "I have a Question". This is routed to a GPS Guide and they will respond to you!

2. Look for the GPS Guides sign outside of offices, or find a guide using the directory below! Just stop in to chat!

3. Email Kya Primm (kprimm@geneseo.edu) or visit Erwin 106 to get connected.
