Satisfaction of Employers and Stakeholder Involvement

Employer surveys are administered every three years and 2022-2023 data will be available after the 2024 survey is finalized.

  1. Employer survey from 2021, 2018, and 2015. The 2018 and 2021 surveys include questions about promotion and retention.
  2. Summer 2018 employer focus group that provides a second measure of employer satisfaction of our program completers.

For the 2024 employer survey, employers rated their teachers that had completed a School of Education program based on the degree to which the teachers were prepared at SUNY Geneseo (these are the same items as in the alumni survey). They rated each item as either completely or mostly prepared 80-100% of the time. No items were rated as not at all prepared. When asked if they believe their teachers are on an employment trajectory that would advance them to a position of leadership, 70% of employers responded yes. Finally, when asked how long they foresee their teachers to remain employed in their district, 50% of employers responded for more than 10 years. The results are attached in the following downloadable link: 2024 Employer Survey Results

For the 2021 employer survey, employers rated their teachers that had completed a School of Education program within the last three years with regards to satisfaction of the program preparation being relevant and effective (these are the same items as rated by the alumni). They rated these items as either completely or mostly prepared 88-100% of the time. Only 1 item was rated as not at all prepared by 1 employer; 6% (Apply educational research in classroom teaching). When asked if they believe their teachers are on an employment trajectory that would advance them to a position of leadership, 82% of employers responded yes. Finally, when asked how long they foresee their teachers to remain employed in their district, 71% of employers responded for more than 10 years. 0% of employers responded for less than 1 year. The remaining 29% are fairly evenly split between 1 - 3 years, 4 - 5 years, and 6 - 10 years. These results aligns with CAEP accountability measure 4: ability of completers to be hired, remain employed, and advance to leadership. For the 2018 employer survey, the results are attached in the following downloadable link: 2018 Employer Survey Results

As a follow-up to the 2018 employer survey, administrators were invited to participate in a one-hour focus group meeting held on campus.  The analysis of the employer focus group is attached in the following downloadable link: 2018 Employer Focus Group Analysis
