Accessibility in the Residence Halls

The Office of Residential Life is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive living environment for all Geneseo students. SUNY Geneseo's 16 residential buildings and 44 townhouse units were built at many different times and each has a unique layout with differing levels of accessibility.  We’ve created this guide to help you identify buildings that best meet your needs and to connect you with resources who will advocate for your needs.

As you enter the housing placement process and complete your housing application, it’s important to recognize that every building may not be suited to your individual accessibility needs. We’ve created this guide to help you identify buildings that best meet your needs and to connect you with resources who will advocate for your needs.

Hall Accessibility Features

Navigate directly to your hall(s) of interest to learn about the specific accessibility features (like elevators, private or semi-private bathrooms, etc) of each individual hall.

Housing Accommodations

Housing accommodations ensure equal access in the residence halls for current and prospective students (applied or in the process of applying) with disabilities and accessibility needs. The Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) reviews housing accommodation requests for those who have applied for housing and have met eligibility requirements and payment due dates. Please refer to the OAS Steps for Requesting Housing Accommodations.

If a student has a non-medical or disability related accommodation request (i.e., religious accommodation request) please contact residence life directly by emailing reslife@geneseo.edu or speaking to the Assistant Director of Housing Operations.

Housing accommodation requests should be submitted by the dates below:

  • Returning students = April 1
  • New Incoming Students = June 1
  • Spring Admits = December 1

Please refer to Information about Housing Accommodation Request Reviews and FAQ page on the OAS website.

If you have questions about the accommodation request process, please contact OAS at access@geneseo.edu, or call 585-245-5112.

Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)

  • Emotional support animal requests are reviewed by the Office of Accessibility. Please refer to the Service Animal and Emotional Support Animal page for more information on the process to request an emotional support animal.

Emergency Evacuation Procedures

  • Residence Halls have unique evacuation procedures in comparison to other living arrangements.  To be prepared in case of emergency, take a moment to review the Emergency Evacuation Procedures and complete any relevant paperwork.

Do you have an accessibility emergency? Call University Police at 585-245-5222.
