I am the retired Chief of Primary Care at Veteran Administration Medical Center at Beckley WV . My degree from Geneseo provided me with opportunity to explore societal structures and develop insights into the working of groups and their influence on life. Geneseo enable me to build leadership skills and provided me skills to lead complex organizations and to think outside traditional ways of doing things to accomplish goals .
My degree from Geneseo provided a stepping stone to Graduate School at the University of Missouri where I graduated with a Master’s of Science in Social Work. Upon graduation I worked at the VAMC Columbia Missouri as a Social Worker in Geriatrics and then In Medical Social Work. At my next assignment in Salisbury NC VAMC I worked in the admissions area and provided congressional liaison services . At the Salisbury VAMC I was promoted to a Social Work supervisor. My next assignment was Chief of Social Work Service at VAMC Beckley WV . Upon working on the process to restructure the VA’s to a more patient oriented institution l briefly worked as the Assistant Chief of Psychiatry and was later promoted to be the first Non physician within the VA system to be the Chief of a Primary Care Department .
