I am a staff attorney at the Maine Municipal Association where I provide direct legal advice to municipal officials in member municipalities (almost all 500 municipalities in Maine are members!). Municipal law encompasses a broad range of areas of law, including tax, employment, land use, elections and constitutional law. My sociology degree from Geneseo prepared me to think critically and to properly cite resources (thank you, Dr. Eisenberg!)- which are essential skills for writing legal briefs. More broadly, my background in understanding human behavior and societal structures prepared me for advising municipal officials who are navigating state and local government. In a life full of ups and downs, I’m happy I ruled the waves!
