Bill Hall

Sociology Alumni
'70

After graduating from Geneseo, I attended Syracuse University where I was awarded a Ph.D. in Sociology.  I taught at a number of institutions before accepting a faculty position at Alfred University.  After serving eighteen years as a professor teaching criminal justice and conducting research,  I spend my last seventeen years at Alfred as an administrator, serving as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as associate provost and dean of the College of Business, and finally as provost and vice president for academic affairs.  My sociology background allowed me to not only experience a rewarding academic career but it allowed me to serve the Village of Alfred as Trustee and as Mayor and to serve Allegany County as a County Legislator. I am now retired.
