AGICO JR6-A Spinner Magnetometer. The JR6 is used to collect data on the orientation of the natural remanent magnetization in earth materials. Samples consist of one-inch diameter, one-inch tall cores. We are currently collecting data from the Henry Mountains in Utah and from the Piedmont of central Virginia. |

AGICO MFK-1 Kappabridge. The Kappabridge measures both the bulk susceptibility and the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of earth materials. AMS samples consist of one-inch diameter, one-inch tall cores. Bulk susceptibility samples can be of any shape, but must be less than one inch in diameter. Students at Geneseo are using the Kappabridge to examine the AMS of samples from a shear zone in Idaho and collecting bulk susceptibility data to use in the stratigraphic correlation of Devonian age strata. |

Sapphire Alternating Field Demagnetizer. The AF demagnetizer is using in conjunction with the JR6 to constrain the orientation of the natural remanent magnetization in earth materials. |
