Reunion 2024 Schedule of Events

Friday | June 7, 2024

10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Reunion Welcome Center Open -- MacVittie College Union
Sign in and pick up your name tag, Reunion swag, itinerary, campus maps, meal tickets and more! All guests are required to check in at the Welcome Center when they arrive in Geneseo. Your reunion name tag is your admission ticket to all free weekend events.

If you booked on-campus housing, you will be given instructions at the Welcome Center as to how, where and when you can check-in to the residence halls. You must first collect your Reunion credentials before checking into the residence halls.

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. -- College Bookstore & Starbucks Open -- MacVittie College Union

Receive a 10% discount on apparel at the bookstore when you present your reunion name tag.

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. -- Academic Buildings Open (Friday)

Enjoy self-guided tours and exploration of the following buildings: Bailey, Brodie, Newton, ISC, Welles, Fraser and South.

11 a.m. - 12 p.m. -- Roemer Arboretum Tour

Walk some of the Arboretum's paths and learn about the history of this 20-acre parcel of land, the natural history of some of its inhabitants, efforts to restore its native flora and fauna, and the research and other activities which the Arboretum supports to benefit SUNY Geneseo students and the Geneseo community.

Tour guide: Dan DeZarn, Director of Sustainability.
Location: Meet at Arboretum entrance (located in Parking Lot V) at 10:45 a.m.

11 a.m. - 6 p.m. -- All-Alumni 18-Hole Golf Scramble -- Livingston Country Club

Enjoy a fun, no pressure golf outing at Livingston Country Club [4436 Lakeville Rd.]. Registration fee includes 18 holes, cart, lunch (before play), two drinks tickets at the clubhouse and prizes. Register early, space is limited.
$75 per person [registration/payment required]

  • We recommend arriving at Livingston Country Club at 11 a.m. to check in and enjoy lunch; tee off at noon.
12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- Campus Tours

Official campus tours depart from the MacVittie College Union Patio between 12 - 1:15 p.m.

  • Reunion Assistants will be on hand at this time to host walking and cart tours.
  • Walking tours require limited walking, from the Union to the Sturges Quad and back.
  • If you're not able to take an official campus tour, hop a ride on a student-driven golf cart anytime during your time on campus. Student golf cart drivers are a wealth of campus information and can usually buzz you by any campus location you are looking to visit.

12 - 4 p.m. -- Live on Stage at SUNY Geneseo Exhibit Reprised -- Ballroom Lounge (formerly the Kinetic Gallery)

Big-name concerts, world-renowned speakers and famous performing artists! For decades, Geneseo has been host to an incredible line-up of events. Visit the exhibit Live on Stage at Geneseo and check out memorable concert posters and more than 7,000 contracts of performers from 1966 to 2021.

⭐ 2 - 3 p.m. -- Class of '74 50th Reunion Gathering -- MacVittie College Union GOLD Room

Gather with classmates to reminisce, laugh, and share life stories since graduation.

2:30 - 4 p.m. -- Department / Office Open Houses (Friday)

3 - 4:30 p.m. -- Documentary Film Screening - One Door Closes: Korey's Courage -- MacVittie College Union 322/323

Join Tom Ingrassia '74 to watch his award-winning film, One Door Closes: Korey's Courage. The film was recently adapted as a documentary based on Tom's 2013 book, One Door Closes: Overcoming Adversity by Following Your Dreams.

Among several honors, the movie was a Gold Award winner in the Feature Documentary category by the International Independent Film Awards.

Popcorn will be served in the East Lounge!

4 - 5 p.m. -- Shabbat Service -- Interfaith Center, 11 Franklin Street

Join Hillel to light Shabbat candles and learn all about the amazing programming we do. Light refreshments provided.

⭐ 5 - 7 p.m. -- Class of '74 50th Reunion Dinner -- MacVittie College Union Hunt Room

Geneseo invites the Class of 1974 to what will be a memorable milestone 50th Reunion Celebration Dinner. Spend meaningful time with classmates during a relaxing and informal dinner in the newly renovated CU ballroom. Dinner and cash bar.
$30 per person [registration/payment required]

7 - 9 p.m. -- Reunion Kickoff -- Village Park (southwest corner of Park & Main)

Meet up with your friends and "kickoff" Reunion Weekend in style. Enjoy live music by Something Else and dance the night away to songs from across the decades. This event will also feature a cash bar and snack counter.

Alumni celebrating their 10th (Class of 2014) and 25th (Class of 1999) class reunions [who register by the May 15 deadline] will receive one free drink coupon to commemorate this milestone! Coupons can be redeemed at the Kickoff Event on Friday night, between 7 - 9 p.m.

  • Every guest should be prepared to show proof of age when purchasing an alcoholic beverage at any/all reunion events.

  • GK Fun Run / Walk
    "Geneseo Knights" [GK] are invited to take a scenic and leisurely jog or walk through campus. Maps provided, approximate distance 5K. This is not competitive or timed.
    Location: Participants should meet at the College Tennis Courts (behind Genesee Hall).
  • Historic Village Walking Tour
    Hosted by community members Jim & Anita Whitehead. Learn about the history of Main Street and some of our village's most iconic buildings and businesses. 
    Location: Meet at Cosmic Charlie Cafe, 2 School Street (formerly GJ's and Sundance Books)

10:45 - 11:45 a.m. -- Geneseo FODASA Film Festival -- MacVittie College Union 322/323

Film producer, cardiac sarcoidosis and heart transplant survivor, and Geneseo alum Steve Hilfiker '88 presents three inspirational short documentaries about organ donation and sarcoidosis warriors, including Bernie Mac, his own journey meeting his heart donor’s family, and a donor family story that will warm your heart. Join us to be inspired and to learn more about cardiac sarcoidosis. This event could save your life or the life of someone you know.

Additional Information About the Three Films:

  • “Daniel, My Brother” (2024) - After a life-saving heart transplant, single father Steve Hilfiker embarks on an emotional journey to meet with the family of his donor, Daniel.
  • “Remembering Brantley” (2024) - After the tragic loss of fourteen-year-old Brantley Griffin, his surviving family discovers hope through a life-saving new purpose.
  • “WARRIORS: The Bernie Mac Disease” (2023) - Bernie Mac's widow, Rhonda, takes us on a deeply personal journey through the life and legacy of the beloved comedian and the impact that sarcoidosis had on his rise to fame. Patients from the USA, Germany, and Ghana describe their fight.

12 - 1:30 p.m. -- Reunion Signature Luncheon & Celebration -- MacVittie College Union Ballroom

Hosted by the SUNY Geneseo Alumni Association (SGAA)
Commemorating all eras and Geneseo's forever friendships! Enjoy lunch with old friends and new; celebrate SGAA Awards recipients; be a part of this Reunion tradition that honors what Geneseo means to each of us. Buffet luncheon.

An outdoor party like no other! Celebrate the spirit of the Geneseo community with alumni and friends. Enjoy a cash bar, refreshments booth and DJ. No matter when you graduated, this block party will take you back to your college days.
