Licensing Program
The names and marks of SUNY Geneseo are valuable assets and should be presented with dignity and taste, both internally and externally. To monitor and control the use of its trade names and trademarks, the College has implemented a procurement policy to govern the purchase of products using campus trademarks and logos, and it has contracted with LRG (Licensing Resource Group) to monitor the use of names and marks of SUNY Geneseo for retail, promotional, and internal use on a variety of products and service-related items.
The College's licensing program includes examination of both the product and design to be imprinted, ensuring Geneseo's campus trademarks, service marks and trade names are used appropriately and appear in association with quality production, promotions, and printed matter by campus and external users. It is the responsibility of the supplier to obtain approvals of the product and design. All suppliers producing items utilizing campus marks or official College names must be licensed with LRG. Suppliers producing items for commercial use are responsible for payment of royalty fees, currently set at 8 percent. View our list of licensed suppliers and approved products.
Orders for Internal Use on Campus
Campus departments and organizations ordering products for internal use, and not intended for resale, are exempt from royalty fees. For these types of orders, campus departments have the option of ordering from a currently licensed supplier or a new supplier. All new suppliers will be issued a one-time Single Order Trademark License and encouraged to contact LRG (licensing@lrgusa.com) to learn how to become an official licensed supplier of SUNY Geneseo. The Single Order Trademark License form is available through the Procurement Services Department.
