History of the Geneseo Pep Band
The Geneseo Pep Band was founded by trumpet player, J. Swackhammer during the 2003-2004 Ice Knights season. The solo band grew to around 6 members in its first year.
The Pep Band has expanded significantly every year since. In the 2004-2005 season membership grew to 15, the 2005-2006 season saw 30 members and in the 2006-2007 season there were 50 members of the Pep Band.
The Pep Band was first and foremost the original D-III Hockey Pep Band, playing at every home men's hockey games, as well as several away games. The Pep Band has expanded its schedule adding several other school sporting events into its yearly events. The Pep Band has become an all around club here at Geneseo, no longer just containing its members to playing instruments.
The Pep Band has helped to significantly increase the fan base of the Ice Knights over the past several years. The Pep Band cheered on the Ice Knights to a 2004-2005 SUNYAC Championship and to another SUNYAC Championship in the 2005-2006 season. The Pep Band also played for the Ice Knights during their 2004-2005 NCAA Tournament run.
In the 2005-2006 school year the Pep Band was recognized as an outstanding organization for its contribution to the college and received the President's Outstanding Achievement Award.
