GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo’s production of the musical “Nine” will employ aerial arts and live-feed video rarely used in Rochester-area theatrical productions.

The Department of Music is staging the Tony Award-winning production Jan. 20-24 in Wadsworth Auditorium. The Wednesday through Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 2 o’clock. General admission tickets are $15 and are available online. Due to some adult situations, the musical is not appropriate for young children.

GENESEO, N.Y. – The 2001 Nobel Laureate in physics, Wolfgang Ketterle, will deliver the 2016 Robert “Duke” Sells lecture in physics Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in Newton Hall Room 202.

Ketterle, the John D. MacArthur Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will address “The Coolest Use of Light – How to Make the Coldest Matter in the Universe.” The lecture is free and open to the public. 

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo is receiving funding from the newly-established SUNY Investment and Performance Fund to support two programs aimed at helping more students complete their degrees.

Ava Pascalar received a surprise visit from her son, U.S. Army Sgt. Randolph Pascalar, when she received Geneseo's Gloria and Van Quaal Outstanding Quality Service Award for 2015.

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance’s list of the Top 300 Best College Values of 2016, ranking 81^st on the comprehensive list.

Geneseo also ranks 13^th on the list of public colleges for out-of-state students and 37^th among public colleges for in-state students.

A SUNY Geneseo student is the sole nominee from the United States in a Fairtrade International contest to recognize the “Biggest Fairtrade Fan” in the world for 2016.

A 2006 SUNY Geneseo graduate, Liz Allen, has been named White House deputy communications director and deputy assistant to the president.

Allen has served in the Obama administration in various capacities since his election in 2008, most recently as special assistant to the president for message planning. She also served in Vice President Joe Biden’s press office and eventually became his deputy director of communications.

Allen majored in political science and international relations at Geneseo.

GENESEO, N.Y –– The Department of Music will proudly present the Geneseo Wind Ensemble, Clarinet Choir and Saxophone Quartet in their holiday concert on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m in Wadsworth Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Conductor and Department of Music faculty member Ernest Lascell says the group will showcase a myriad of “audience favorites” in the performances.

Nicole Bergamo from Liverpool, N.Y., is among those performing in the SUNY Geneseo Dance Ensemble concert Dec. 10 – 13.

The Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee begins at 2 o’clock. Tickets are available for $10 through the Student Association Ticket office or online.
