GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo’s Milne Library has been named the winner of the 2016 Innovation in Instruction Award by The American Library Association’s Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT).

The Geneseo Chamber Singers are on a 10-day musical tour in Italy where they will experience the rich history of the country while performing several concerts. The choir regularly tours internationally, and since 1971 has performed in virtually every major European city. Stops on this tour include Ferentino, Florence, Perugia an Siena.

SUNY Geneseo President Denise A. Battles and Village of Geneseo Mayor Richard B. Hatheway signed an updated Geneseo Village-Relations Relations Compact May 26 to renew their commitment to maintaining strong relations with the community to ensure a high quality of life for all who work, live and study in the village. On hand to witness the ceremony were numerous representatives from the college and village.

Hatheway are conducting two public events in the village to renew their commitment to maintaining strong relations with the community: a signing ceremony to renew the Village/College Relations Compact and a first-ever community chat to answer questions from the public about the solid relationship between the college and village. 

GENESEO, N.Y. – President Barack Obama intends to nominate SUNY Geneseo alumna Ysaye M. Barnwell to membership on the National Council on the Arts, the White House announced today.

The influential arts organization advises the chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts on agency policies and programs. It reviews and makes recommendations to the chairman on applications for grants, funding guidelines, and leadership initiatives.   

SUNY Geneseo won its second-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Dr. Patrick R. Damore Commissioner's Cup, announced Monday at the conference's annual awards banquet.

 

GENESEO, N.Y. - The State University of New York Board of Trustees has awarded two SUNY Geneseo faculty members with distinguished professorships. Lynette Bosch, professor and chair of the Department of Art History, has been named a SUNY Distinguished Professor, conferred upon individuals who have achieved national or international prominence and a distinguished reputation within a chosen field. Receiving a Distinguished Teaching Professorship is Christopher Leary, professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics.

GENESEO, N.Y. – Graduating senior Ben Conard from East Setauket, N.Y., has received the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) fellowship, funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Congress.

Graduating senior Harneel Kaur Aujla's will be mentored by a member of the parliament of India as part of her LAMP Fellowship.
