Move-In Information Fall 2024
Each semester, we welcome our new students to campus and celebrate the return of students who have been away. Move-in at Geneseo is a busy and fun time!
Below we have provided a summary of the essential information for students settling in (or back in) to campus.
Check-In Process
New Student Move-In
Tuesday, August 20 | Time 9:00am-4:00pm
Location: Stadium Lot - Central Check In
Move-in day begins at central check-in in the Stadium Lot. Here, you will receive welcome materials, your room key, and Geneseo ID card (ONLY IF you submitted your photo ahead of time). Please have your License or another form of Picture ID with you in order to Check-In.
Note that each student will receive a designated check in window time slot in early August. It is important that you plan to check in during that time slot to avoid delays both at check in and at the residence hall. We space out student check in for each hall and floor to limit delays as much as possible. All students must arrive prior to 3:30pm to ensure they can be checked in prior to central check in closing.
As a reminder, while we have a limited number of carts available, students and families should plan and prepare to move in without one if one is not available during your arrival. A driver must stay with the car at all times while unloading and the car must vacate the unload zone to a parking lot as quickly as possible to make room for the next vehicle.
Transfer Student Move-In
Friday, August 23 | Times 9:00am-10:00am
Location: Stadium Lot - Central Check In
Move-in day begins at central check-in in the Stadium Lot. Here, you will receive welcome materials, your room key, and Geneseo ID card (ONLY IF you submitted your photo ahead of time). Please have your License or another form of Picture ID with you in order to Check-In.

Returning Student Move-In
Friday, August 23 | 10:00am-4:00pm

All returning students must go through Central Check In. Students who go straight to their hall will be sent back to central check in and may face improper check in fees if they fail to check in through Central Check In.

Our Move-In Recommendations
- Arrive On Time: Arriving at your scheduled move in time is imperative to a smooth check in day. We purposefully spread out floors, suites, and building move in times to ensure less stress on the unload zones, elevators, and in general during move in. Arriving outside of your time will likely cause a delay for yourself and others.
- Picture ID/License: Have your state issued license or another form of picture identification available to show at Check-In.
- Print out or have ready the Campus Move-In Map (fall only): This will aid in finding the Stadium Lot and the designated routes to your residence hall—this map also highlights areas of construction and road closure. University Police will be directing traffic at key intersections where you can ask for directions. It is important to follow the map and only unload at the designated areas on move in day.
- New Student Checklist: Make sure you've completed everything on the new student checklist.
- Packing: Check out our "what to bring" page. We ask you to carefully consider the amount of personal belongings you bring.
- Parking Permit: Get your parking permit online in advance. It will be mailed to your home or campus mailbox.
- Complete your Room Condition Form prior to completely unpacking. Your RCR is used for end of year damage billing. If there is any damage to your room (i.e., paint chips, damaged tiles, etc.) you must add this to your RCR otherwise you may be billed for these damages upon check out. Don't forget to look behind and under furniture (it is easier to do this before fully unpacking). Please see our Damage Billing site for more information. If you need assistance, please find a building RA. Once you are checked in to Symplicity Residence, you have 7 days to complete the RCR before no further changes can be made.
If you require accommodations relating to a disability for move in day please contact the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) via email at access@geneseo.edu or phone at 585 245-5112.
Housing Assignments
Students can view their housing assignments through the Symplicity Residence software once released. They will be prompted for their Geneseo username and password.
New students can expect housing assignments by August 1st.
Early Arrivals and Late Arrivals
For students with extraordinary circumstances you can request early arrival through this form. Late arrivals can be requested through your residence hall professional staff member (AC or RD) after assignments are released.
