LIVES Program: Learning Independence, Vocational, and Educational Skills

The LIVES Program at SUNY Geneseo offers Graduate Assistantships to highly qualified and motivated candidates who are enrolled in one of its master’s degree programs.

LIVES Graduate Assistantship Information

  1. Assistantships require full-time study (9 credit hours per semester) at the Master's-degree level. The assistantships are for one academic year, typically beginning in mid-August & ending in May. The recipient receives a tuition waiver for the academic year (that is, Fall & Spring semesters only) and a stipend. Compensation for tuition and fees for candidates eligible for TAP will be adjusted for any such tuition assistance award.

  2. The LIVES assistantship requires candidates to work approximately twenty (20) hours per week. The work assignment is as a Co-Teacher for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 21 and older in a classroom setting.
  3. Preference will be to those with teaching experience in special education and/or adolescence education.
