Commencement Day Food, Gifts and Gatherings


Food and Gifts

There will be water for sale in the arena. There are local dining options within walking distance or a short drive from campus.

The campus bookstore, located in MacVittie College Union, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the day of Commencement. Small snacks and gifts, including Geneseo-branded merchandise, can be purchased at the bookstore.

Starbucks, located in MacVittie College Union, will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Commencement Day. 

Local flower vendors will also be on campus selling bouquets.


Academic Department Gatherings

Faculty from departments will gather in the following locations after each ceremony and cookies and beverages will be served. This is an opportunity to meet your department faculty and say farewell!

Meeting after the morning ceremony (approx. 11 a.m.) in the following locations: 

  • Anthropology, Sociology & Sociomedical Sciences: Bailey Atrium
  • Access Opportunity Program (AOP): MacVittie College Union, Fireside Lounge
  • Communication: Milne Library, Multipurpose Room
  • English, American Studies, Black Studies, Comparative Literature, & Women’s and Gender Studies: Welles Hall Lobby
  • Global Languages & Cultures: Lounge Area at Welles 211 (by the department offices)
  • Geography & Sustainability: 2nd Floor Bailey Atrium
  • History: Milne Library, 2nd Floor
  • International Relations & Political Science: Milne Library, 3rd Floor
  • Art History, Music, Musical Theatre, & Theater (including Theater/English): Brodie Hall Atrium
  • Philosophy: Walter Harding Lounge
  • Psychology & Neuroscience: MacVittie College Union 

Meeting after the afternoon ceremony (approx. 3 p.m.) in the following locations:
