Geneseo campus leaders joined more than 100 SUNY leaders and researchers in Washington, DC, on September 20–21 to advocate for new federal research and operational support for SUNY campuses, elevate SUNY’s stature, and strengthen relationships with DC decision-makers.
Geneseo was represented at SUNY Day DC by Daniel Blankenship, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, and Paul Morrell, assistant vice president for finance and business development and director of the Small Business Development Center. Also in attendance were Joe Morelle ’86, US representative for New York’s 25th district, and Alexander Ruiz ’24, a Geneseo political science major and SUNY Student Assembly president.
SUNY Day DC has been held annually (with a hiatus during the pandemic) since the early 2010s. The event convenes SUNY leaders and researchers from across the system in DC to learn about new funding opportunities and to advocate SUNY priorities directly to White House, Congress, and agency decision-makers.
