On April 3 -6, 2022 a Visiting Team (consisting of a Team Chair and 7 peer evaluators) will be evaluating SUNY Geneseo (over Zoom) to determine whether our institution should be reaccredited to confer degrees. A representative from SUNY will also attend these sessions.

Our Steering Committee has prepared a 100-page Self Study that documents the ways in which Geneseo meets and exceeds the standards. We’ve also provided over 500 pdf files in an Evidence Inventory accessible by the Visiting Team.
On April 4 and 5 the Visiting Team will be meeting with various campus constituencies, selected groups, and will hold several open forums for faculty, students, and staff. The schedule for the Visiting Team is under development. During the visit, team members may request additional information or clarification under a tight deadline. It is in the best interests of SUNY Geneseo to respond to such requests in a gracious and timely manner.
The purpose of Team visit is to determine whether we meet the ROA and the Standards.
Those scheduled to meet with the Visiting Team are urged to read the sections of the Self Study that are relevant to their areas, and should be prepared to answer questions such as “How have you used assessment to make improvements?” “How do assessment results influence planning?” Although Standard V focusses on educational effectiveness, assessment is woven throughout the Standards.
On the morning of April 6, the visiting team will present preliminary findings to the campus.
The Visiting Team will make its recommendations to the Middle States Commission, which then will vote on an action in June 2022.
