Transferring to Geneseo
The Geneseo English department is delighted to welcome transfer students interested in English, Creative Writing, English/Adolescent Education and Early Childhood majors who would like to pursue a concentration in English. Below are some general tips about what to take at your previous institution in order to prepare to be a student at Geneseo - or, if you're still at the stage where you're considering your options, how your current slate of courses might transfer here. But please note: every transfer student is different. The easiest way to get answers to your particular questions is to email the chair of the department, Dr. Alice Rutkowski - rutkowsk@geneseo.edu
If you are....
A student with an associate's degree from an accredited community college in the State of New York and you'd like to be an English-literature major, you have plenty of time to finish your degree in two years with room to spare for other interests (typically community college transfers bring in 60 credits; that would mean 60 credits to go, 40 of which would need to be in English). It would be helpful (though not required) if you could take your community college's "introduction to literature" or "introduction to literary studies" in advance.
