The Geneseo Accounting Program
Geneseo has maintained a NYC-Registered accounting program for over twenty years, and in that time graduates have found work in all phases of public and private accounting. Alumni work in public accounting firms at the global, regional, and local levels, in corporate and not-for-profit settings. These include public agencies such as the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, the Treasury Department, the FBI and the Defense Contract Audit Agency. Geneseo's accounting program is the second largest program in Western New York State.
In March of 2004 the New York State Department of Education approved Geneseo's application for an M.S. in Accounting. This culminated a 5-year plan and approval process, and underscored Geneseo's commitment to maintain the highest standards of educating graduates from an increasingly demanding and challenging profession.
Faculty at Geneseo's School of Business believe that Geneseo's strong liberal-arts tradition adds special value to the accounting program, providing students with critical thinking skills and habits of lifelong learning that will serve them through out and beyond their entire working-career.
