HONR 302 Third Paper

(Due Thursday, March 10)

Read the two paragraphs starting on the bottom of page 237 and finishing in the middle of page 238 of The Discoveries and Opinions of Galileo. Based on what Galileo says in those paragraphs discuss Galileo’s relation to the cosmologies of Plato, Aristotle, and Lucretius. Does he seem to favor one of these? Does he seem to criticize one of them? You might read the introduction to The Assayer (pages 217-227) from which this passage comes to get some background. Again your paper should be at most two pages long.
