Course Description:

We will seek to both reinforce what you have learned about Quantum Mechanics in previous courses, and to extend that to ideas and methods that allow us to consider less idealized examples.

Topics to definitely cover:

  • angular momentum, spin, and their addition
  • Pauli exclusion principle
  • perturbation theory

Required coursework and Grading Distribution:

27% Homework: assigned more or less weekly.

60% Exams: There will be 3 exams, each worth 20% of the course grade. This includes the 'final', which will entirely focus on the last part of the class.

13% Quizzes, preparation, presentations, etc.

Exam Dates:

Exam 1: Thursday, March 1 7:00 – 9:00pm

Exam 2: Thursday, April 5 7:00 – 9:00pm

Final Exam: Thursday, May 10 12:00 – 3:00am
