Instructions for Downloading and Printing CAPA Homework Sets

In order to work on your CAPA assignment, you will first need to download and print out your individualized assignment.  Each homework set is available as either a "pdf" file or a "postscript" file.  Both files are identical, it is fine to print out either the pdf or the postscript file.

  1. Log on to the computer and start up a web browser program (e.g. Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator)
  2. Go to http://capa.geneseo.edu
  3. Click on the "Download your homework set" link
  4. Select your class, then the set number you want.
  5. You should see your name in the list of names that appears.  You have the option of downloading either the pdf file or the postscript file.
    • In order to open the pdf file, your computer needs to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader program installed on it.  Most computers already have this software installed.  If your computer does not have this program installed on it, you can obtain the Adobe Acrobat Reader for free at www.adobe.com/acrobat
    • In order to open the postscript file, your computer needs to have the Ghostscript and GhostView programs installed on it.  Many of the computers on campus already have this software installed on them, but it is likely that your own personal computer does not already have this software.  If your computer does not have this program installed on it, you can obtain the Ghostscript and GhostView prorams for free at www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/.  For windows computers, the files you need to download are entitled gs700w32.exe and gsv40w32.exe.
  6. Depending on how your browser is configured, the computer may ask you if you want to save the file to disk or open it from its current location.  Choose "Open from current location".
  7. You should now see your problem set.  Go to "File", "Print", and select the desired printer, then pick up your problem set!

If you have trouble with this or any other aspects of the CAPA program, please contact your instructor.  The SUNY Geneseo Help Desk (245-5588) may also be available for help.
