For a better historical perspective we compared Aug. ë99 data to the average maximum crops reported by Professor Forest and other researchers going back to 1967. The results clearly show the highest standing crops before
the perimeter sewer was completed
in ë72. There was a high standing crop in ë85, an unusual year of high nutrients and massive alewife mortality. The low ë78 values were after two hurricanes impacted the lake. Standing crops for 1999 were moderate to high relative to the extremes in
Macrophytes in Conesus Lake
(1967-1999)
