I currently work as a clinical associate for DBT Works in Concord, MA—a therapeutic day program treating adolescents and young adults experiencing difficulties with emotion dysregulation. Studying sociology at SUNY Geneseo has helped me better understand how much our social identities impact our well-being. I have been fortunate enough to apply what I’ve learned about sociological concepts like anti-oppression into my everyday life and work as a clinical educator. Perhaps the most salient thing I’ve learned is that anti-oppression is not only a nominal goal to achieve but an intentional, everyday practice to uphold.
