Denise A. Battles, Ph.D., president, and robbie routenberg, chief diversity officer, together with Teresa Miller, Ph.D., senior vice chancellor for strategic initiatives and chief diversity officer at SUNY system and officer in charge at State University of New York College at Old Westbury, presented at the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Annual Meeting in March. Their presentation, “Innovative Approaches to Diversity and Inclusion in Promoting Racial Equity,” covered SUNY’s progress in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including PRODiG (Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth) and Geneseo’s ACCC (Advancing Cultural Competency Certificate) program. PRODiG aims to increase the representation of historically underrepresented faculty at SUNY, while ACCC fosters an inclusive campus climate through developing employees’ understanding of implicit bias, privilege, power, antiracism, and bystander intervention strategies.
