“My background in philosophy, started at Geneseo, has allowed me to teach and continue learning philosophy, and I'm generally happy with my decision to continue in the discipline. And so philosophy has benefited me professionally by allowing me to enter the profession in the first place. As for the way philosophy has benefited me personally, I'd say the following: studying philosophy has allowed me and enabled me to have the discussions I've always wanted to have. I think my best memory of studying philosophy at Geneseo is the feeling I had when I was doing it - it felt serious. That is, it felt like what we were working on was material which wasn't trivial, but rather, was important, and moreover, we were working on it in a serious (though still relaxed) way.”
