Spider Silk Beads

The beads for the platform to put the spider silk on are created from 304 stainless steel tubing (from MicroGroup Inc, Medway MA, part #304Z0042X011WD) by using a Dremel tool. This tubing, which is the right inner radius to fit over the pins, is cut with wheel no. 409 from the tool. The metal tubing is placed on a small wooden block and then cut to about 2 mm by gradually moving it and taking it back. The beads fly away from the cutting surface, so a way to catch them is required.
