Confined Space Entry

The SUNY Geneseo Confined Space Team has identified spaces on the campus that meet the regulatory definition of Permit Required Confined Spaces.

These include:

• Boilers
• Water Tanks
• Elevator Shafts and Pits
• Manholes (all types)
• Air Handlers that can be bodily entered

Entering these spaces is to avoided whenever possible. If it becomes necessary that campus personnel or contractors enter these spaces, the requirements of the Confined Space Entry Program must be followed. These requirements include air monitoring and the completion of a Confined Space Entry Permit.
