The Department of Student Health and Counseling will open the new South Village Health Center in Onondaga Hall in Fall 2019. The center will provide easier accessibility to the students, primarily first-years, who reside on the south side of campus. Located in Onondaga North, the center will complement the main Lauderdale Center for Student Health and Counseling, offering individualized primary and medical health care, reproductive health services, and a Campus Community Resource Nurse (CCRN). Counseling services, currently in Onondaga South, will continue to be available there.
“Students can access the same services as at Lauderdale, only with limited hours,” said Megan Syfrett, principal administrator of student health and counseling. “They’ll receive the same excellent health care from professionals who understand the specific needs of college students.”
All students are welcome to use the South Village Health Center. Appointments can be scheduled in person, by phone at 585-245-5752, or online at myhealth.geneseo.edu. All contacts with the Student Health and Counseling Department are confidential.
Services within Health and Counseling are covered by the Student Health Fee, which is different than private health insurance. However, the College recommends students carry insurance for situations such as urgent care and hospital visits, x-rays, and for certain lab work and prescriptions drugs that are not carried in the campus dispensary.
South Village Health Center hours:
- Primary care services: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Reproductive Health Services of Livingston County: Friday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Campus Community Resource Nurse: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Clinical Director for South Village Counseling Services: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Closed during school breaks and holidays.
The South Village Health Center will hold an open house for the campus community on September 18, 8 to 10 a.m. “We’ll offer tours of the facility, provide information on upcoming campus flu clinics, and give people the opportunity to ask questions,” said Syfrett. Light breakfast foods will be served.
The Student Health and Counseling Department is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC) and received accreditation as a Medical Home in January 2019.
