SUNY Geneseo has named Julie L. Buehler ‘89, executive consultant at Mitrano and Associates, LLC, as the College’s new vice president for finance and administration. She will begin her new position on July 25.
In her role at Mitrano and Associates, Buehler provided advisement to not-for-profit, higher education, and academic medical center executives on topics such as strategic planning, finance, corporate relationship building, revenue generation, compliance, and leadership and mentoring.
Prior to joining Mitrano and Associates in 2018, Buehler served for five years as the vice chancellor for information services and strategy, and chief information officer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In this role, she led the completion of the first campus-wide information technology strategic plan and efforts to build a $12 million data center facility.
Buehler previously served as the deputy chief information officer for the University of Rochester, where she advanced the university’s mission through information technology strategy, policy, and programs. Among her varied roles at Rochester, where she served for 24 years, were co-chair of the budgets and planning working group for the Health Sciences Center for Computational Innovation; director of information technology planning, finance, and administration; project manager for human resources systems replacement; manager of financial systems operations; and auditor.
“I am very pleased to have Julie join SUNY Geneseo’s senior leadership team,” said President Denise A. Battles. “She brings a unique breadth and depth of higher education experience as well as the ability to build relationships across campus, all of which will help us enhance our shared vision for the future. I look forward to working with her as she assumes this key leadership role.”
