GENESEO, N.Y. – Geneseo’s campus radio station WGSU is celebrating 55 years on the air by hosting a music festival and food truck rodeo April 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. on the College Union Plaza.
“Genny Fest” is free and open to the public and will feature musical performances by the rising all-girl rock band Jackknife Stiletto and singer-songwriter Allison Leah ’18, a Geneseo communication major.
“The staff of WGSU and I are absolutely thrilled to be presenting ‘Genny Fest’ as an opportunity for Geneseo students, faculty and staff, and community members to relax and enjoy one of the last few days of the semester together,” said Erin Carlo ’18, operations manager at WGSU from Hamburg, N.Y.
The event also will feature seven food trucks. Proceeds from t-shirt sales and donations of cash or nonperishable food will benefit Foodlink, a regional food hub serving a network of human services agencies.
“The main goals of this event are to strengthen the relationship between 89.3 WGSU and our current and potential listeners, engage with our surrounding community, and showcase Geneseo talent,” said Carlo. “We are so grateful to our partners and sponsors for all the help we have received in the planning of ‘Genny Fest.’ It goes to show how supportive the Geneseo community is!”
