Style Guides

Geneseo's Office of College Communications and Marketing oversees the college’s styles for the web, language usage, and graphic identity.

Maintaining consistency across communications from departments, offices, and individuals representing the College is important to protect Geneseo's reputation and brand.

Logo Enhancement

In 2025, the Office of College Communications and Marketing introduced a lockup incorporating "New York's Public Honors College" to distinguish SUNY Genese as an honors college. Please see our graphic identity supplement for details on how and where to incorporate the enhanced logo.

The version of the logo without the Sturges icon will continue to be part of the College’s institutional brand identity—so business cards, letterhead and other materials that don't have the enhanced logo are within brand standards and can still be used.

Language Guide

SUNY Geneseo's Language Usage Guide is designed to ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy for the college’s print and online publications by providing tips on common grammatical errors and SUNY Geneseo-specific terms. Grounded in academically regarded sources such as The Chicago Manual of Style, the guide also reflects the college’s history, the style guidelines of peer universities, and best practices for web accessibility.

The Language Usage Guide has been moved to KnightNet, Geneseo's secure intranet for employees and students.
