TRAC —Travel, Research and Creativity Grants

Support for student research and conference participation in conjunction with a faculty member is supported by these grants. Students may apply twice a year. Maximum awards are $600 per student per semester/summer. They are funded by the Student Association and the Geneseo Foundation. Here is More information on TRAC grants. Attendance at a workshop is required prior to applying.

Application Deadlines: 8 a.m. Mondays, September 9, 2024; October 28, 2024; February 10, 2025; April 14, 2025.

Dr. Denise Battles and Dr. Michael Mills Endowment for Student Research Awards

This is to recognize exemplary applications to the TRAC Grants program. All applications to the TRAC Grants program will be considered for these awards, which will be given instead of a TRAC Grant. Similarly to TRAC Grants, maximum awards are $600 per student per semester or summer ($1,800 maximum per groups of three or more students). They are funded by an endowment created by Dr. Denise Battles and Dr. Michael Mills.

Student Research Assistantship: Dean Johnston and Geneseo Foundation

Provides faculty members with paid research assistance for their scholarly projects. Students work with individual professors for one semester during the academic year. Students receive a stipend of $1,000. Funded through the Geneseo Foundation by an endowment established by CPAC, Inc and unrestricted donations. Application Deadlines: 8 a.m. Mondays, October 21 for Spring 2025 semester assistantships and March 31, 2025 for Fall 2025 semester assistantships.

Geneseo Foundation Undergraduate Summer Fellowships

The Geneseo Foundation, in cooperation with the Research Council, sponsors two types of Summer Fellowships — full time and part time. Six, Full-time $3,000 awards require recipients to devote two consecutive summer months to their project. Three part-time $1,000 awards expect the recipient to devote approximately three weeks of effort to their research project, but that effort may be less than full time and spread over a longer period during the summer. Jason and Diana Kyrwood '95 Student/Faculty Research Endowed Fellowship in Honor of Ellen Kintz (for the Social Sciences)

Provides a $3,000 award ($2,000 from the Kyrwood Endowment, $1,000 from the Geneseo Foundation) for an undergraduate student to work with a faculty member in the social sciences on the faculty member's existing research project; however students may create an original project within the framework of pre-existing faculty research. Recipients must devote two consecutive summer months to the project. Funded through the Geneseo Foundation by an endowment established by Jason and Diana Kyrwood in honor of emerita faculty member Ellen Kintz. Dr. Wendell and Barbara Rhodes Research Award

Supports research or field study. All applications to the Geneseo Foundation and Kyrwood Undergraduate Summer Fellowships programs (February 17, 2025 deadline) will be considered for the prestigious Rhodes Award, which will provide supplemental funds of $600 (available after July 1, 2025). Preference will be given to scholarly research combining a natural science and a social science for example, biology/sociology or geology/anthropology. Funds may be used for any research-related expenses, including student stipends. Funds must be used by mid-June, 2026. Funded through the Geneseo Foundation by an endowment established by Dr. Wendell and Barbara Rhodes.

Sorrell Chesin ’58 Research Award

The purpose of the endowed fund is to provide financial support ($250 to $1,000) to establish undergraduate student research awards designed to recognize those students who have successfully undertaken a research experience in the natural sciences and related disciplines under the direction or mentorship of a faculty member in the field of study and to promote this research experience. Graduate Student Research Awards

Supports graduate student research, scholarly, or creative activities, and conference participation in conjunction with a faculty member. This program is open to full- and part-time graduate students currently enrolled in one of Geneseo's graduate programs. Students may apply twice a year. Maximum awards are $600 per semester/summer. Funded by the College. To apply, follow the instructions for the undergraduate TRAC Grants (see above), and check the box on the application submission form for "Graduate Student."
