Position Summary |
HIGHLIGHTS This position will perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled journey level maintenance, repair, installation and construction tasks in the mechanical, building and electrical trades within a particular zone or group of buildings. Incumbent will have a working knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which they are assigned. Incumbents frequently plan and lay out construction, repair and maintenance projects, use hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring equipment appropriate for the crafts to which assigned. |
Preferred Qualifications |
DIVISION OPERATING NEEDS: Experience in welding and metal fabrication under a skilled-journey level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Working knowledge of various welding and fabrication techniques, tools, equipment and machinery of the welding and fabrication trades. Semi-skilled in additional trades preferred. Candidates should have the ability to assimilate and apply working knowledge of applicable standards and codes to the position, i.e., plumbing and electrical code and building control regulation. Incumbent will be expected to effect minor repairs in a variety of areas outside of their primary trade during the course of their work. This may include items such as repair of ceilings, doors, door hardware, etc. Additionally, candidates should be able to demonstrate: the ability to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems; working knowledge of the methods, material, tools and equipment used; and ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, architectural blueprints and specifications. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to understand and follow instructions, and read, write and communicate verbally. Candidate must provide a record of dependability and past work performance. Candidates must possess computer skills adequate to work with computerized maintenance management systems and other computerized applications as assigned. |
