Mission Statement
The mission of SHRM is to be a globally recognized HR professional society that exists to develop and serve professionals in the HR world while also advancing and leading the HR profession. SHRM is able to do this through providing education, thought leadership, certification, community and advocacy to enhance the practice of human resource management and the effectiveness of HR professionals in the organizations and communities they serve.
To achieve the purposes of the Society there shall be no discrimination in individual memberships or chapter affiliation because of race, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or veteran's status.
Management of the affairs, business, and property of SHRM, as well as the long-range planning for the organization, is performed by the SHRM Board of Directors. Coordinating all SHRM services is the responsibility of the full-time president and CEO appointed by the Board, and of the staff at the national office located in Alexandria, Virginia.
