The campus telephone number for all emergencies is (585) 245-5222. This number is connected to the University Police Department and is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. There are a number of blue light emergency telephones located in parking lots, near academic buildings and at resident hall entrance doors on campus. A person in need of emergency assistance may use any of these direct dial telephones to establish an immediate connection to the University Police Department. All emergency telephone locations are outdoors and easily accessible.

Geneseo First Response
The student volunteer Geneseo First Response is an emergency first response squad with a mission to provide high-quality auxiliary medical care to the campus community. Members are trained in first aid and many are certified EMTs. University Police
University Police staff members work with the community to create a safe environment to live, work and learn. The department is primarily service-oriented, created to meet the specialized needs of a college campus. Services include but are not limited to safety awareness and crime prevention activities, bicycle, foot and ATV patrols, traffic and parking services, property and resident hall access security, emergency first aid treatment, and the maintenance of public order.

University Police officers are responsible for the enforcement of all state and local laws, as well as the rules and regulations of the College. The department provides a sensitive, measured approach to all situations requiring police assistance. Police officers are on duty 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Emergency calls to the department can be made by dialing 5222 or by utilizing one of the emergency blue light telephones located throughout the campus. University Police submit monthly crime statistics to the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services. Campus crime statistics are published annually by the United States Department of Education and Federal Bureau of Investigations in the Uniform Crime Report.
