Campus Auxiliary Services

Campus Auxiliary Services, Inc. is a campus-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the SUNY Geneseo campus. Campus Auxiliary Services has operated at the State University College of Geneseo since 1952 and is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of students, faculty and administrators. The Board determines the budget and policies of the organization within the guidelines established by SUNY Central Administration. Campus Auxiliary Services provides services to the campus including: campus dining, catering, vending, campus I.D. cards, bookstore, recycling, laundry, and funding support for various campus organizations and events.

Campus Dining Services

All meal plans offer à la carte or all-you-care-to-eat styles of service for the greatest customer flexibility and satisfaction. Customers may use their meal plan in any of the following unlimited dining operations: Mary Jemison Dining Complex, Red Jacket Dining Complex, Letchworth Dining Complex. In addition, we offer retail snacks, beverages, and grab-and-go items at Starbucks, 1871 Café, Jacks, Mary's, Market North, and vending machines.

The “a la carte” and all-you-care-to-eat value centers allow each customer to select from a wide variety of nutritional products. Each Restaurant & Café offers different menus to ensure the widest possible choice for individuals. All dining centers offer salad bars, vegetarian, vegan entrees, and special meals.

All students who live on campus are required to purchase a meal plan. A selection of meal plans are available for on-campus students. Students living off campus may select the off-campus plan or any on-campus meal plan. Additional Retail Dollars or Campus Cash can be added to any meal plan at any time during the semester. Campus Scheduling and Special Events

The Office of Campus Scheduling and Special Events manages all room reservations and special events on campus. The professional staff will be happy to assist students in planning their organization’s meetings and activities. The office also maintains an on-line calendar for room reservations at http://events.geneseo.edu and a calendar of events at http://events.geneseo.edu. Career Design Center

Making career related decisions, furthering one's education and securing rewarding work are important issues each individual faces during a lifetime. The role of the Career Design Office is to assist Geneseo students in meeting the challenges involved in planning, preparing for and beginning a career.

The professional staff in Career Design provides comprehensive career guidance and advisement through individual assessment of skills, interests, and values. Assistance is also provided with choosing a major and in identifying, exploring and clarifying career goals. In addition, graduating students can be helped with developing job search skills such as resume writing, interviewing and researching prospective employers. Students contemplating graduate or professional school can obtain assistance with identifying programs of study and the details of the application process.

An extensive resource area is maintained and houses career literature, graduate/professional school directories, and several computer work stations for resume printing, career-related research and Internet access. Check http://careers.geneseo.edu for an overview of office services and programs, current full time job listings, information about local and regional job fairs, and a schedule of employers recruiting on campus.

A network of former Geneseo students ("Alumni Career Partners") is also maintained to provide current students with additional, personalized sources of valuable career information.

Center for Community

The Center for Community has as its primary function the advancement of the mission of the Division of Student and Campus Life and of the College through integration of the offices of: the Dean of Students; Leadership Development; Fraternal Affairs and Off-Campus Services; Student Conduct; Student Volunteerism, and Student Employment Services. The Center fosters the development of responsible, productive, and engaged citizens through collaborative efforts within the Geneseo community. Respect, responsibility, and critical thinking are underlying values that set the tone for the advancement of broad leadership, communication, and life skills, and are enhanced through service learning and learning by doing within a diverse society. The Department of College Union & Activities coordinates and sponsors welcoming events and activities. The department also coordinates and sponsors customary and late night events and activities and specialty trips. The Department of College Union and Activities manages the MacVittie College Union, the community center of the College, and the Knight Spot, the students’ on campus dance club. The department also provides support and guidance to the numerous student clubs and organizations on campus. The Department of College Union and Activities works collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the community to contribute to the Geneseo Mission.

The Department of College Union and Activities is directly responsible for Week of Welcome, Geneseo Late Knight, the Best of Western New York Off-Campus Travel Program, and the Fall and Spring Student Organization Expos.

Robert W. MacVittie College Union

The College Union serves as the campus center of social, cultural, recreational, and governance programs. As the "College gathering place," it provides a place to study, relax, or visit with friends with plenty of lounges, meeting rooms, and an outdoor patio. Services include  Starbucks, the Corner Pocket Game Room, the Campus Mailroom, the Geneseo Federal Credit Union, Computer Project Area, Study Room, the Student Association Ticket Office, ATM services, Kinetic Art Gallery, Student Association and organizational offices, Department of Student Life, and the Center for Community. The Lobby is a popular place for student organizations to "table" and advertise upcoming entertainment or offer promotional items or services.

Student Association Technical Services
(for student events)

Student Association (SA) Technical Services provide sound, stage, lights, and projection for student events on campus. The “tech crew” is made up of students hired on a yearly basis and trained in the many aspects of event management and technical reinforcement. The Assistant Director of the College Union and Activities and the Technical Director of Wadsworth Auditorium for the School of Performing Arts work collaboratively to coordinate these services.

Arrangements must be made at least two (2) weeks prior to the event with the Assistant Director of the College Union and Activities or online at www.geneseo.edu/~techserv. Qualified technicians must accompany all SA equipment throughout setup, performance, and strike (takedown). The fees for this service can be found on the SA Technical Services website.

SA equipment rental fees may be charged to Academic and Administrative Offices and Outside Conferences.

CO/PA Photocopier

The Student Association provides 2 coin-operated photocopiers in the CO/PA (Computer/Project Area) on the 1st floor of the MacVittie College Union, Rm. 130. As a service to students, copies are available at 5¢ a copy. If you need help with the copier, or if you experience a problem, contact the SA Service Manager at (585) 245-5873.

Computing & Information Technology (CIT) supports Geneseo’s classroom technology, computing labs, and networking resources for students. Geneseo has exceptional student computing facilities. There are over 50 microcomputer labs on campus, providing an almost 5:1 student-to-computer ratio. Most classrooms are specially equipped with LCD projection and a computer or a connection for a portable computer along with other specialized equipment. Our state-of-the-art fiber optic network connects all residence halls and academic and administrative buildings on campus. The network allows connection to campus file servers and Internet from every computer. A wireless network currently provides wireless network access in portions of all buildings and surrounding outdoor areas.

myGeneseo (http://my.geneseo.edu), Geneseo’s portal, provides easy access to personal, customizable information. myGeneseo is a powerful web-based tool that allows students to collect all of their favorite content in one place as well as access on-line resources specific to them with a single login using your Geneseo username and password. Students can register for courses, make payments, review financial aid, view grades and transcripts and more.

CIT is also one of the major employers of Geneseo students employing approximately 70 students each year. CIT hires temporary service as well as college work-study for a variety of technology support positions. Training is provided. Applications are always being accepted but the bulk of our hiring is done in the spring.
