SUNY Geneseo associate professor of English Gillian Paku has been selected as a fellow for the inaugural 2025 cohort of the Accessibility Advocates & Allies (AAA) Faculty Fellowship Program. Eleven faculty members from SUNY institutions have been selected as the 2025 inaugural class.
The AAA Faculty Fellowship program is a community of individuals committed to promoting and growing accessibility practices in and out of the classroom on their campuses. During the program's first year, fellows will:
- Explore models and strategies to build and expand a culture of access on their campuses
- Share their expertise and experience as they identify obstacles and work towards solutions to broaden the adoption of accessibility practices.
- Connect with other communities of practice and campus leaders with a shared vision, including disability and accessibility directors, chief diversity officers, chief information officers, teaching center directors, and others.
- Grow as faculty leaders as they coordinate with campus leadership to design and execute a plan to engage their campus community in the work of access.
Paku has been a faculty member at SUNY Geneseo since 2008. She teaches courses primarily in 18th-century literature and literary disability studies and has published articles for Oxford University Press Handbooks Online and Eighteenth-Century Life. She has received numerous teaching awards, including the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2013. Paku received her PhD from Harvard University.
