Brian Hoven, assistant professor of biology at SUNY Geneseo, has begun a long-term study of the ecological impacts of emerald ash borer in the Finger Lakes region. Emerald ash borer is an invasive beetle species from Asia responsible for killing millions of ash trees throughout North America. Several students joined Hoven in the field, including Caitlin Schirmer ’25, a biology major from Baldwinsville, NY. Watch the video below to learn more about what they're doing, and why.
