Study Abroad Course Approval and Credit Transfer
Study Abroad Course Approval and Credit Transfer
SUNY Geneseo Students (Host-Institution Programs Only)
It is very important for SUNY Geneseo students to carefully review and follow the process outlined below in order for students to stay on track for graduation and ensure they receive their financial aid.
Additional Important Information:
- Further details about Registration and Credit Transfer are detailed in the Host Institution Program Student Handbook. Please reference the Grade and Credit Conversion Chart for information on how grades and credits taken on a SUNY Geneseo study abroad program is transferred to Geneseo.
- The Study Abroad Course Planning Form records how courses will be applied to that student's specific degree requirements and can determine a student's financial aid-eligible credits.
- Upon arrival on site for the study abroad program, a student may face course cancellation or wish to drop/add courses. For each course added abroad, the student must repeat the process outlined above to avoid problem with financial aid or progress towards graduation.
- When the program has been completed, the course credits are reported to the Registrar. The student will follow-up with the department chairs to record any necessary credit waivers authorized on the Study Abroad Course Planning Form.
- Non-Geneseo students should check with their home campus for policies regarding study abroad course equivalencies, credits, and grades.
- Students participating on another SUNY's faculty led program (not a Geneseo faculty-led program), will also complete this form.
