Rahama Wright ‘02 has been recognized by the Washington, DC Chapter of the National Black MBA Association as Entrepreneur of the Year.

Wright earned a degree in international relations from and served in the Peace Corps following her time at Geneseo.

While in the Peace Corps, Wright reconnected with her West African heritage and established Shea Yeleen, a social impact business focusing on beauty products. The company is noted for its commitment to fair wages, paying its female workers five times the local minimum wage, thereby fostering the growth and well-being of their communities.

The National Black MBA Association is dedicated to developing educational and economic wealth opportunities for traditionally underserved groups across various stages of their academic, entrepreneurial, and professional journeys.

According to the chapter president, Wright was selected for this honor because of her ability to couple a strong entrepreneurial drive with a focus on community service and improvement.

Wright remains involved with Geneseo, serving on the SGAA Board of Directors since 2018.
