Sturges Renovation Project

The Sturges Hall Renovation project aligns with our campus master planning and will be the first significant renovation of Sturges Hall since the building was constructed in 1938. Sturges has experienced a “gut renovation” that will remove all interior walls and utilities while preserving the historical significance of items such as the auditorium, grand tower stairway, windows, and clock.

Once renovated, Sturges will be the new home for the Communications, Access Opportunity Programs (AOP) departments, Title IX, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Political Science and International Relations, and History. In addition, the renovated building will have many new classrooms and collaboration spaces, a community health and counseling office, a tutoring center, a testing center, and a historically restored auditorium.

The budget is $40 million, and the project has a 2027 completion target. The Finance and Administration Facilities Department, in collaboration with the Provost’s Office, are grateful to partner with the State University Construction Fund to continue to advance such projects for Geneseo in service to our campus community.

We appreciate your patience and support as we advance this and other significant projects to benefit our students, faculty, and staff.
