Dr. James Boiani and Dr. David Johnson announced their retirement from the Chemistry Department. Dr. Boiani joined Geneseo in 1985, teaching Analytical and General Chemistry to generations Geneseo students. Most recently Dr. Boiani's research interests focused on quantifying resveratrol, a compound with noted health benefits frequently found in Mediterranean diets, in red wine. Dr. Johnson joined Geneseo in 1991, guiding students in Organic Chemistry. His research interests were directed at developing drug therapies to prevent atherosclerosis and diabetic retinopathy via NADPH oxidase inhibition. Both will be remembered for their dedication to students and positive impact in countless students' lives, their thoughtful leadership in the Department, and good humor.
Congratulations to Dr. Boiani and Dr. Johnson and best wishes on their next adventures.
