Neurobehavioral Toxicology Lab

The Neurobehavioral Toxicology Lab at SUNY Geneseo is focused on learning how brain development and adult behavior is affected by exposure to toxicants early in the life span.

Our laboratory has long-standing interest in the effects of inorganic arsenic, brominated flame retardants, and psychoactive drugs. We are currently investigating the negative effects of exposure to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) during the gestational or pubertal periods. This timely research is of particular importance as the marijuana legalization trend continues to gain acceptance in our country.

Highly motivated students from a variety of undergraduate majors are trained to contribute to all phases of research including laboratory animal health care, behavioral test design, delivery, and data analysis, and histological examination of the brain structures and neurotransmitter systems involved with attention, learning, and motor function.
