SUNY Geneseo was named a 2025–26 Voter Friendly Campus (VFC), one of 272 campuses in 39 states and the District of Columbia by Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project and NASPA—Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. The initiative recognizes institutions that have planned and implemented practices that encourage their students to register and vote.

The mission of the 2025 VFC designation is to bolster colleges and universities’ efforts to help students overcome barriers to participating in the political process every year, not just during years featuring federal elections. Colleges and universities were evaluated based on a written plan for how they planned to register, educate, and turnout student voters in 2024, and how they facilitated voter engagement efforts on campus.

"I am thrilled that we achieved the VFC designation and incredibly proud of our students for taking the initiative to register to vote," says political science major Lucas Pastwik '27, director of student affairs and president elect of SUNY Geneseo's Student Association. "Geneseo students’ dedication to civic engagement and the democratic process is truly inspiring and something we should all celebrate. This year’s designation highlights their leadership in driving political participation across higher education. Their commitment ensures that Geneseo remains at the forefront of fostering civic involvement."

The VFC designation is valid through December 2026.
