Seven Geneseo students, three graduating seniors and four juniors, recently presented posters on their undergraduate research at the annual meeting of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Chicago. The meeting was in conjunction with the Experimental Biology conference.
Presenting at the meeting were graduating seniors Ooha Kambhampati, a biology major from New Hartford, N.Y.; Shourik Dutta, a biochemistry major from Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; and David Nicholas, a biology major from Johnson City, N.Y. Juniors who made presentations were Daniel Duran, a biochemistry major from New Rochelle, N.Y.; Nicholas Terrigino, a biology major from Webster, N.Y.; Rachel Powers, a biology major from Lake Luzerne, N.Y.; and Christopher Keck, a biology major from Canandaigua, N.Y.
“Presenting at academic conferences such as this are a great benefit to our students,” said Robert O’Donnell, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Biology at Geneseo, who also attended the conference. “Our students had the opportunity to attend talks and visit posters covering a range of topics in nutrition, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and pathology by leading scientists in their fields. My thanks to the Biology Department, the Geneseo Foundation, and alumni Carl ’50 and Olga ’53 Savino and David Wolf ‘97. This research and trip would not have been possible without their support.”
Also accompanying the students at the conference were Wendy Pogozelski, Distinguished Teaching Professor and chair of the Department of Chemistry, and Kevin Militello, professor of biology.
