Phi Beta Kappa Welcomes New Cohort

Welles Hall (SUNY Geneseo/Matt Burkhartt)

SUNY Geneseo recently invited the students listed below into the college’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The ideal Phi Beta Kappan has demonstrated intellectual integrity, tolerance for other views, and a broad range of academic interests. Each year, about one college senior in a hundred nationwide is invited to join Phi Beta Kappa. Membership in Phi Beta Kappa shows commitment to the liberal arts and science and freedom of inquiry and expression.

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most widely known academic honor society. Students from both the junior and senior classes are selected each spring for membership into the organization. Geneseo's chapter annually inducts outstanding liberal arts students and sponsors activities on campus to increase awareness of the importance of studies in the liberal arts and sciences. The Alpha Delta Chapter at Geneseo was established in 2004. About 10 percent of the nation’s institutions of higher learning have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter.
