SUNY Geneseo has been recognized by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge as a 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting. The ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting recognizes colleges and universities for outstanding efforts to increase nonpartisan student voter participation. Geneseo joins a group of 471 colleges and universities recognized for completing four core actions:
- Participating in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
- Sharing 2022 NSLVE Reports with campus voting data with ALL IN
- Developing and submitting a 2024 democratic engagement action plan with ALL IN
- Having a current signatory to ALL IN’s Higher Education Presidents’ Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation
Nick Palumbo, assistant dean of students for leadership and service, said the College provides easy and accessible ways to register to vote during move-in, new student orientation, residence hall programs, and semester-long tabling efforts in the College Union. The Geneseo Student Association and Andrew Goodman Foundation Vote Everywhere Ambassadors also advocate for registration via social media. A coalition of faculty, staff, and administrators also led nonpartisan efforts, including student leader training, information sessions, faculty-led panels, bringing candidates to campus, election day programs, and pre- and post-election wellness events. "The collective efforts and commitment of our campus community to engage, educate, and empower students is an indelible reflection of the college’s value of civic engagement,” says Palumbo.
