SUNY Geneseo finished 11th in the 2017-18 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, which measure the overall excellence of the 450 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic programs in the nation. It is the highest finish ever by the Knights in the 23-year history of the rankings.
Geneseo compiled 710 points to finish as the top-ranked public institution in the country. Cracking the 700-point plateau for the first time, the Knights improved in both final point total and ranking for the sixth consecutive year.
Geneseo finished second among New York colleges, only trailing 10th-place Ithaca (760.5), while finishing ahead of NYU (30th, 485), RPI (50th, 350.75), Brockport (52nd, 341) and Cortland (54th, 327.5). Only three New York institutions (Geneseo, Cortland, Ithaca) have ever finished in the top-15 of the Director's Cup.
A record 13 Geneseo teams won SUNYAC Championships and either qualified for their respective NCAA Tournament or scored points in an NCAA Championship event:

Williams (Mass) won its sixth-straight and 21st overall title with 1,126.5 points, followed by MIT (1,001.5), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (939.5), Emory (936.05) and Middlebury (905) in the top-five of 329 scoring institutions on the list.
