At Geneseo's eGarden, faculty, staff and students are sowing the seeds of ingenuity and better earth practices. Now they have the added power of electricity in the barn.
The barn is the indoor area for conducting experimental projects.
Stephen Padalino, Distinguished Professor of Physics, said the contractor installed AC and DC circuits according to a layout he designed. Last week, took a group of 10 eGarden research students to the barn and showed them the electrical system.
"The system will allow us to use power from four different sources and three isolated battery banks while monitoring the power generation and usage for all three separately," Padalino said. "By doing this we can perform many different types of power management and efficiency experiments in the eGarden. This is very exciting news!"
